1 year and a celebration

Lennon: How oh how are you 1 year old already? Trite as it may sound, it seems as though only yesterday we were driving home with you in the wee small hours of the morning. The first year of your life has been an incredible blessing. You bring light and joy in your daddy's life and mine daily. You are a blessing to all those who love you.

The party: you were a bit spoiled, and we did go a little overboard. Mimi and Aunt Jessie were a tremendous help with decorating for your "multi-colored" themed party.

The cake: you didn't care much for it to be honest. You aren't one for sweets yet, and that is just fine with me. You did enjoy sharing your cake with the dogs.

At 1 year old you:
Weigh 19 pounds 14 ounces and are 29.5 inches tall.
Have begun cruising on the furniture, but still show little interest in walking
Are an amazing communicator: you are acquiring new signs weekly.
Are still getting up once in the middle of the night to nurse-you're so snuggly I don't mind
You are feisty. You let us know what you want or don't want.

You like:
Cooper
Swimming
Being outside
Being the center of attention
Signing time
Yogurt, veggie burgers, spinach
Feeding yourself
Water
Daddy chasing you around the house

You don't like:
Diaper changes
Church nursery
Riding in the car for long periods of time

We are looking forward to all that we get to experience with you this next year. We thank God for you daily and pray you will grow up to love and serve Him.

11 months

Lennon: at 11 months you are always busy! You seem to have no interest in walking yet, but your crawl has become much more efficient at getting you where you need to go.

You profess your love to daddy everytime you see him with an excited "dada!" It melts both of our hearts.

You talk all the time now, although most of it is still unintelligible. You use sign language to communicate your needs often.

You are a very healthy little girl, although you recently had your first ear infection. We thank God every day for your health.

You are an awesome eater! You will eat just about anything, although you still look at me like I'm crazy when I try to give you a banana.

You love Cooper...a lot! He tolerates you :)

10 months

Clearly haven't been the best about blogging lately. Our computer was broken for about two months, but after several trips to the Apple store and a brand new hard drive, I'm back in business. I'll try to back blog about the last few months and attempt to stay a little more current on the happenings around here.

Lennon, at 10 months you are now on the move. Your crawl is more of a scoot, but it gets you around pretty quickly.
You love, love, love your lovey!

You started signing right at 10 months. Your first sign was dog (which you do every time Cooper is in view). You also sign more and cleanup (daddy's favorite). You are working on several other signs as well.

You are learning right from wrong. All I have to do is say "uh-uh" and you come crawling into my lap.

Here are a few pics of you at 10 months:

9 months

How are you nine months already?! Where is the time going?

Here are 9 things about you at 9 months:

1. You are busy! Usually too busy to sit still for a picture.

2. You love to eat! Broccoli is still your favorite, and you still won't touch a banana. You are a great eater and will eat nearly anything I put on your tray.

3. You still have no teeth (and I'm definitely still ok with it). I love your gummy smile and will be sad when you actually do get a tooth. (we discovered two bottom teeth that popped through March 4th-your smile is just as cute as ever).

4. You are semi-mobile. You aren't crawling, but you scoot on your bottom. Speed rolling is still your favorite mode of transportation-other than being carried of course.

5. You wave hi and bye-bye now. It is adorable.

6. You gave your daddy the best birthday present by saying "dada". You babble lots, and often say dadadadada, but you definitely looked at him and said "dada". You've got him wrapped around your finger for sure!

7. You are a great sleeper-most of the time. You take two naps a day and usually wake up only once at night or not at all. I secretly love snuggling with you in the middle of night.

8. You LOVE people!! You've started to cry when anyone leaves-including strangers. It's very cute!

9. You are 28" long and weigh 18 pounds 8 ounces. You are the perfect size.

Swim lessons

Lennon LOVES to swim! At least the first few times we took her she did. We started swim lessons a few weeks ago and started out doing great. After about 10 minutes she was a little overwhelmed with all the kids and commotion. I'm looking forward to taking her swimming often this summer.

solids

We started solids with Lennon at six months. We chose baby-led solids, which is where we give her soft stick shaped pieces of whatever we're eating, and she feeds herself. She's awesome at it (although it's a mess)! Sweet potato fries were her first food. She's had avocado, cucumber, broccoli (her favorite!), red pepper, zucchini, squash, carrot, parsnip, eggs, toast (another favorite), noodles, beans, oatmeal, apple, pear, banana, hummus, chicken, salmon and the list goes on. We are a food loving family, and it looks like Lennon didn't fall far from that tree.

chicken drumstick

eggs

banana

zucchini
Cooper is her loyal sidekick now that she's eating. He's always happy to clean up the after dinner mess.

Christmas Day

Christmas day for Lennon went something like this:

Opening presents with daddy-Sadie helped too!

Lots of playing in jammies after a big breakfast.

Hanging out with cousin Callie.

Uncle Kutter snapping lots of photos.

Had a long nap-exhaustion!

Kyla helped with the chocolate cream pies.

Memorial for Max.

We had a great time celebrating Jesus' birthday. I can only imagine how different next Christmas will be.
